Trek Against Trafficking information

Find out below all you need to know about the finer details of Trek.

What will happen on Trek?
Trek will be a great opportunity to you to engage with VGen and the Don’t Trade Lives campaign. You’ll be doing practical campaigning and lobbying on route & in Canberra around ‘Big Chocolate just say ‘Yes’!
  • You’ll have the chance to learn from experts on the issues and also on campaigning
  • You’ll get leadership skills and the chance to network and be mentored by likeminded passionate young people
  • You’ll be inspired and equipped to go back to your school or community to make a change and be part of a movement of young advocates

When?
VGenners will be converging from all over Australia for Trek, so different States will leave at different times. We will all be in Canberra:
Monday, 24 November – Thursday, 27 November

  • Participants from all States except NSW will be leaving from their capital city on Sunday to travel to Canberra.
  • WA, SA & Tassie participants will fly to Melbourne on Sunday morning before travelling on bus to Canberra.
  • Everyone will off from Canberra on Thursday morning, and you’ll be home by Friday night, 28 November

Where?
All participants will be camping in Canberra from Monday - Thursday! We have some great facilities at Canberra Exhibition Park and you will be fully catered for and tents will be provided. You will just need to bring some bedding.
For those travelling from Vic & QLD you will be making overnight stops on-route to Canberra. We will be putting you up in accommodation in Albury/Wodonga and Coffs Harbour respectively.

How much?
We have been working on a bargain price for everyone! The cost will be $150 per participant. You will be required to pay by 14 November. What does this include you may be asking?

  • Bus transport to Canberra (inc. return airfares to Melbourne for all WA, SA & Tassie participants
  • All meals on route & in Canberra
  • All accommodation on route & in Canberra
  • All activities in Canberra

As you tell it’s dirt cheap and VGen is pitching in to help make it affordable. However, it doesn’t include any additional spending money you may chose to bring (e.g. snacks etc). Also a t-shirt will be available for sale @ $20, this is also not included.
